How to use her

Utsa lives in the BGI Nexus Telegram group. She reads the channel quietly, so you don’t have to summon her for her to listen. When you want her:

  • @utsa to call her into any message
  • #need to say what you’re looking for
  • #offer to say what you bring

She reads a simple grammar: #need, #offer, #team, #match, #pledge. Matches stay private to the people involved. The group only ever sees that a connection formed, never who or what.

The core loop

The Utsa loop: 01 Offer — what do you bring? 02 Need — what is missing? 03 Match — find the connection. 04 Attest — close the loop: both parties confirm, the first trust signal.
  1. Offer. What do you bring? Time, skill, compute, care, a resource.
  2. Need. What is missing? A person or project states it clearly.
  3. Match. Utsa suggests a possible exchange, without turning it into a feed.
  4. Attest. Both parties confirm the exchange happened. That confirmation becomes the first trust signal.

The first three steps are live. Attestation is designed and comes next, on her own instance. Reputation and multi-party coordination follow, once trust has data behind it.

Where it came from

Utsa builds on Ben Goertzel’s OfferNet vision, turning scattered intent into verified contributions. It began as a civic question I had been carrying for years: how do people find meaningful ways to contribute without relying on luck or proximity?

It became a live agent at the inaugural BGI Sprint, June 2026, and won first place in its track. The proof was recursive. Before any agent existed, the matching was run by hand in a community channel, and real teams formed, including the one that built Utsa.

In the live demo, a need posted in real time matched an offer made weeks earlier, live, in front of the judges. Two people, posting at different times, connected by an agent that remembered.

Utsa was also presented on the main stage at BGI Summit 2025 in Istanbul.

Where she goes next

Today she matches. From here the OfferNet vision extends in clear steps:

  • Direct notifications. She tells both people when a match forms.
  • Attestation. When a collaboration completes, both parties confirm it. Neither side can record it alone, which is what makes it worth trusting.
  • Reputation. Attested work becomes a quiet signal beside your name, earned through real exchange, not self-description.
  • Network pulse. A view of what the community is actually building, so resources find the work that matters.
  • Cross-community. The same matching logic travels anywhere. The function travels, the container changes.
