Creating your account

Setup guide · 3 min read · Updated March 2026

Everything you need to join BGI Commons: a working email or a Google / GitHub account, and about two minutes. This guide walks through sign-up, email verification and the 90-second onboarding.

1. Open the sign-up form

Go to bgi-commons.net and press Sign up in the header. Enter your email and a password (8+ characters), or skip typing entirely with Continue with Google / GitHub — OAuth accounts arrive already verified.

2. Verify your email

We send a verification link right away. Open it from your inbox — the link is valid for 60 minutes. Didn't get it? Check spam or press Resend email on the confirmation screen.

3. The 90-second onboarding

After verification you'll answer just three things: a display name, 1–2 skills, and a signature under the BGI Commons Constitution. That's all we ask — join date, badges, XP and contributions are written by the system as you participate.

Tip: signing up with GitHub also pre-links your submissions — recommended for builders. Stuck? Ask in the community channel or write to support@bgi-commons.net.
